charges filed in fatal stabbing near metra tracks west of loop


charles have been filed in the fatal stabbing of a man near metra tracks in the fulton river district, authorities said.kevin alexander, 23, of the 3000 block of west fulton boulevard, was charged thursday with first-degree murder, police said.  he was arrested shortly after the stabbing, which occurred around 3:20 p.m. in the 200 block of north clinton street.alexander is accused of stabbing 24-year-old walter long jr. after the two got into a fight, police said. he was pronounced dead on the scene. alexander was taken into custody at the university of illinois-chicago hospital around 5:25 p.m. as he was being treated for a laceration to the chin, police said.he is slated to appear at the leighton criminal court building on friday for a bond hearing.
