a 12-year-old girl died after being beaten and stabbed sunday night in the sheridan park neighborhood on the north side, according to chicago police. alexis stubbs was attacked around 9:45 p.m. in the 4600 block of north beacon street where she lived, police said.a person of interest was taken into custody about 3:20 a.m. in the alley in the 4500 block of north dover street, about a block and a half from where the girl was stabbed. the attack  may have happened during a "domestic dispute," police said, but they did not elaborate in a statement released monday morning. police said the circumstances surrounding the stabbing were "unknown at this time."police had initially said the girl was 13. check back for updates.
