common mistakes teachers make

taking up all of the talking time, in an esl cl es, the most important factor for the students is to speak english. and teachers speak most of the time so there is no any chance for the students to practice their speaking skills. those who are new to to esl teaching often make this very crucial mistake, they spend too much time on speaking because they are overenthusiastic to share their knowledge. but, how to find the right balance between students talking time and teacher talking time? as general rule of thumb, students should speak for 70% of the cl time, while teacher speak for the remaining 30%. these percentages could be changed for students who are in the begginer level (50-50), or for those students who are in a nced level (90-10). this means that in most cases, your participation should be limited to giving instructions and explaining essential points. source: most common mistakes teachers make. ... ادامه ...

in the name of god in to last sessions we had three presentations. the first was about the audio-lingual method, the second was about the silent way and the third one was about desuggestopedia method. the first and second presentations were in one week and the third was in another week. all of the presentations were great but the third one was really excellent. i liked it so much and i will add a comment for them because of their great action. and at the end of the cl ... we discussed about macro-strategic framework. as i told in these sessions we learned about three other methods in teaching english, about audio-lingual method i found that in this method the teacher uses only the target language and introduces the dialogue by modeling it two times and the students repeat each line of it several times and the grammatical points are thought through examples and drills. about silent way i found that in this method students become independent by relying on themselves. the teacher give them only what they absolutely need and then is silent. it is based on self-correction which means they are encouraged to correct their errors and explore the language. about desuggestopedia method i found that in this method the teacher should make the cl ... room bright and colorful and speaks confidently and gives the students the impression to teach them easily and enjoyable. the teacher makes errors and corrects them in a soft voice. i have leant many things from presentations but i had to summarize them because it would be so long to write them down here. as i mentioned we had three presentations and two of them were in one session. i think it is not useful to do this all the sessions because the students cannot focus well in each method and it isn't provide the aims of the cl ... . so ... ادامه ...

the effect of concordancing on iranian high school students' learning of phrasal verbs across proficiency levels hamideh kazemzadeh ghadim farzanegan high school, khoy, iran دریافت مقاله abstract in spite of the highly beneficial applications of corpus linguistics in language pedagogy, it has not found its way into mainstream efl. the major reasons seem to be the teachers' lack of training and the unavailability of resources, especially computers in language cl es. phrasal verbs have been shown to be a problematic area of learning english as a foreign language due to their semantic opacity and structural differences between english and learners' first languages. the present study aimed at investigating the difference between the performances of learners who studied phrasal verbs by an english teaching method that uses concordance methods and those who studied phrasal verbs by traditional method. in addition, the difference between high and low proficiency learners in the concordance group was investigated. fifty pre-intermediate learners from farzanegan highschool in khoy participated in this study. they were divided into controlled and experimental groups randomly. to ensure the homogeneity of two groups the proficiency test of ket was administered. then, they were given a pre-test. after receiving 6 sessions of instruction, the participants first took the first post-test and after four weeks, they were given a delayed-posttest. findings showed that there was a significant difference between the experimental and the control groups. also, there was a significant difference between high and low proficiency learners using concordance approach, with the high proficiency learners outperforming the low group. the results of the current study can be employed by pol ... ادامه ...

'to make up' means to say or write something that is not true, to invent a story. it wasn't true at all. they just made it up. i told him i couldn't go and made up an excuse. what are fl and sl? what is the difference between fl and sl?the terms fl and sl refer to foreign language or second language environments; these are the two different language learning environments in which a student can learn another language. the defining factor between the two is the language environment outside of the cl room. ✳️in a **second language** situation, the language learner is exposed to the target language outside of the cl room in a variety of settings; for example, students who come to canada to learn english are learning in a second language environment. ✳️being in a **foreign language** environment means that the learner will rarely, if ever, have opportunity for exposure to the target language outside of the cl room; for example a student who is studying german while living in spain would be studying in a foreign language environment. ... ادامه ...

one thing i’ve learned is that god doesn’t always work on our timetable. in fact, he rarely does. but in a single moment, god can change your life! all throughout scripture, we see examples of how god was working behind the scenes and instantly turned things around for his people. scripture tells us he is the same yesterday, today and forever which means he can instantly turn things around for you, too! you may be going through some difficulty today, but be encouraged because your times are in god’s hands. he wants to accelerate things in your favor. he wants to take you further than you dreamed possible and work in your life in ways beyond what you have ever imagined. let this truth sink down into your heart today. resist discoura ent by speaking his word over your future. keep standing. keep hoping; keep believing because he is working behind the scenes. he’s going to accelerate your times and lead you into the life of victory he has for you! ... ادامه ...

strategies to improve your student’s study habits

by katie wetherbee recently, a morning talk show featured an organizational expert who spoke on educational issues. the interview focused on managing study time and using organizational tools to enhance success. color coded notebooks, locker organizers and bulletin boards were showcased as tools for effective studying. parents were instructed to set up a designated study space for each child. with these tools in place, the expert enthused, students’ grades and attitudes should improve. if only it were that easy. all of the recommendations the talk show guest gave were practical; all students can benefit from organizational techniques. however, students must learn strategies that work for them as individuals. these strategies might be different for each subject and ignment. as students mature, they need to adapt their study methods so they can achieve their academic goals. this self-awareness is what educators call “metacognition,” that is, the ability to learn how to learn. as with any new skill, the process of acquiring metacognitive strategies comes more easily to some students than others. what works for me? students need to understand themselves as learners: their unique strengths, weaknesses and style of learning. while some students may fare quite well with an uninterrupted, two-hour block of time for studying, others may need to schedule studying in 15 minute sessions, with breaks in between. similarly, one child in the family might thrive on a quiet room for studying, while a sibling may need to be closer to the hub of activity to get help and redirection. presenting these kinds of options and then asking a student, “what works foryou?” can be an important part of developing effective study habits. students should feel that they have some autonomy whe ... ادامه ...

in education, we must adhere to the original a ntages the history of imperial examinations in 1300 was actually the history of the relationship between imperial examinations and education. as an authoritative national examination, the imperial examination integrates educational resources that are widely found in society, and has effectively promoted the development of ancient chinese education (including private schools, official schools, and extensive self-study education); at the same time, due to the imperial examinations the essence is the system of selecting and selecting officials, which has a powerful super-educational function. in some periods, it often overrides education. there is often an imbalance between imperial examinations and school education. the development of imperial examinations has promoted the development of education, especially self-study education and social education in certain periods, and in some periods has also accompanied the shrinkage of school education. since the resumption of the college entrance examination system, the college entrance examination has both the responsibility of conveying freshmen to colleges and universities and the selection of cadres for the country. the role of the baton in education is still strong. what is the test, what to teach, how hard it is to test, and how difficult it is to teach, the rate of progression to school has become the only indicator of the quality of middle school and has even become an indicator of achievement of the local government. once upon a time, middle school education lost its independent character and was reduced to the counseling education and exam-oriented education of the college entrance examination. there are complex social causes, but the function of the college entrance examin ... ادامه ...

what happened in the cl ... ? in last two weeks we got familiar with "community language learning" and "total physical response". community language learning is the method which takes its principles from the more general counseling-learning approach developed by charles a.curran. it has five stages, in stage i, ii, and iii, the teacher focuses not only the language but also on being supportive of learners in their learning process. in stage iv, because of the students' greater security in the language and readiness to benefit from corrections, the teacher can focus more on accuracy. it should be noted that accuracy is always a focus even in the first three stages; however, it is subordinated to fluency. the reverse is true in stages iv and v. the second method was total physical response which was developed by james asher. in this method the first phase of a lesson is one of modeling. the teacher issues commands to a few students, then performs the actions with them. in the second phase, these same students demonstrate that they can understand the commands by performing them alone. the observers also have an opportunity to demonstrate their understanding. what we had learned: in community language learning: 1- there are six elements necessary for nondefensive learning; security, aggression, attention, reflection, retention and discrimination. 2- students security in this method was provided for in a number of ways. some of these were (1) the teacher's use of the students' native language, (2) telling students precisely what they would be doing during the lesson, (3) respecting established time limits, (4) giving students only as much language at a time as they could handle, (5) taking responsibility for structuring activities clearly in the most appropriate way. in tota ... ادامه ...

speaking

learning the aspects of a foreign language might be easy for some students ,but being able to speak by using them in real life situations might be difficult for the others. for example, one of the students could be smart in knowing how and when to use the tenses in english, but when it comes to speaking, he/she might fail to deliver even one sentence in english. as thornburg (2005) states that knowing a language and being able to speak it are not similar therefore, knowing several skills or sub skills such as, grammatical rules, a list of vocabulary or how to write a parag ... h is completely different if it is compared with speaking skill. in addition, bygate (1987) makes analogy between knowledge and skill on one hand and driving a car on the other hand. if someone knows the parts of the car and the names of some controls, their places and how to use them does not mean that he will be able to drive the car unless he has some practice and experience in driving. similarly, in speaking, knowledge is needed along with skill. however, according to my experience in most schools in libya what teachers teach is merely the knowledge not the skill. this idea has been supported by abughararah '' speaking is generally discouraged in schools and cl ... rooms. speech in cl ... is used only when learners are called upon to repeat or answer a question.'' abughararah (1998, p.33). learning and teaching speaking might be a challenge for both students and teachers. speaking skill is seen as the most difficult skill among the other skills of language for instance, reading, listening and writing ... ادامه ...

approach to the division of justice

there are many comments on the division of justice. justice is divided into credible divine and non-divine justice, each of which has its own divisions.1. divine justice is divided into three types of developmental, secular, and criminal justice.the developmental justice is that god gives to every being as much as deserves, beings and talents.the lawfulness of justice is that god, by means of his prophets and his followers, provides the means of perfection of human beings in the world and the future, and does not command them to be unacceptable, and do not deny them their happiness, therefore, justice is in the chain of causes of the precepts.the righteousness of the god is to reward anyone against his good deeds and to punish his evil deed.2. non-divine justice is divided into two categories of individual and collective justice.2.1.individual justice is divided into two categories of jurisprudential and moral justice (practical wisdom). that jurisprudential justice is extracted by the jurisprudents from the infallible traditions. there are also many differences about moral justice.2.2.collective justice is in three forms: administrative, economic and judicial justice. administrative justice focuses on justice in the administration of community affairs, and that there should be no discrimination in the administration of society between individuals who have the same qualities and traits, but with everyone in equal privileges such as enjoying equal pay.economic justice means achieving a fair standard in the distribution of resources, incomes and wealth of society. and in the special sense of fair dealing, it means that in equitable transactions in a society, such as the proportion of wages with the work done in an industry.and finally, judicial justice means that due to t ... ادامه ...
