american action network (aan), a conservative outside group, is putting $400,000 into radio ads this week in 10 congressional districts, giving a boost to republicans and potentially vulnerable members in swing districts.after some rough town halls, aan is also putting up ads to help defend some members who faced difficult crowds during public meetings during their recess. one of those members, rep. rod blum, r-iowa, was booed and jeered by his constituents at a town hall days ago. the other ads are going up in the districts of reps. martha mcsally, jeff denham, david valadao, steve knight, kevin yoder, bruce poliquin, don bacon, pat tiberi and house speaker paul ryan.aan has now spent $3.1 million on tv and digital ads since the passage of the republican health care plan. the radio ads go

washington — the house has approved legislation updating privacy protections for emails maintained by third-party service providers such as google and yahoo.the legislation requires the government to obtain a warrant from a court before requiring providers to disclose the content of emails, regardless of how long they have been in storage. currently, a warrant is not required for communications stored beyond 180 days.supporters such as rep. tom graves, r-iowa, note that the last time email privacy laws were updated, ronald reagan was president and the chicago bears were super bowl champions.rep. kevin yoder, r-kan., has sponsored the bill, which has widespread support in the house. a similar measure easily p ed in the last congress, but did not get senate approval.
