at&t to deploy 5g evolution networks in two cities


at&t announced it will start rolling out 5g networks in austin and indianapolis, the company announced at an event in san francisco. the carrier is calling the network “5g evolution” and says speeds will top 400 mbps, which is way less than the 1gbps that real 5g should deliver, but is still faster than regular lte.the company also says that 5g connectivity is going to reach 1gbps in theoretical top speeds, which will put mobile connection on par with fiber internet. it calls its network indigo because the idea is to use software a ncements to make existing hardware more capable and costs of upgrades lower.source | via






police investigating i-290 shooting - chicago tribune


illinois state police are investigating a shooting on interstate 290 near forest park and oak park after a person sought treatment for a guns wound at mount sinai hospital. about 3:15 a.m. sunday, a person was taken to mount sinai hospital to be treated for a guns wound to the calf, troopers said. the person told officials the shooting took place on i-290.information about the person's gender and age was not immediately available. troopers initially searched the interstate near austin boulevard, but they were not able to find any evidence of a shooting. they have since learned more information about where the shooting could have taken place, and troopers were out searching for evidence on the inbound lanes between des plaines avenue and harlem avenue, state police said. as of 7:40 a.m., tr






kings of leon announce north american tour that starts in san diego


the southern rock band kings of leon has announced its 2017 north american walls tour, which kicks off with an april 28 concert at san diego’s sleep train amphitheatre. the tour concludes aug. 26 at the gorge amphitheatre in washington. the only other california date announced thus far takes place aug. 24 at shoreline amphitheatre near san jose. all dates and cities for the walls tour appear below, along with ticket information.the tour is in support of kings of leon’s  seventh album, 2016’s “walls.” the opening acts for the tour will be deerhunter for all april and may dates, including in san diego, and nathaniel rateliff & the night sweats for all of the remaining north american shows. tickets for most of the tour dates, including san diego, go on sale urday at 10 a.m. at all ticketm






man found dead in hermosa fire


a 67-year-old man was found dead in a house fire about 11:40 p.m. friday in the 1700 block of north pulaski road in the hermosa neighborhood, police said. officials found the man in the attic apartment, and he was pronounced dead at the scene. no one else was injured. it appears it was an electrical fire, police said. the chicago fire department said the fire remained under investigation. check back for updates.
