in a 5-1 vote, the glenview board of trustees gave initial approval last week to the proposed 169-unit active living apartments.the apartments would be built in the 600 block of waukegan road and will be targeted to residents 55 years old and older, said director of planning jeff brady.brady said the plan commission held four public hearings regarding the project, during which time the proposal was modified in height, number of apartments and parking spaces. the changes were made to address resident concerns, he said.resident also raised concerns about traffic, sound, light and the amount of code variances needed to build the project. the developer hired companies to conduct traffic, sound and light studies, all of which found there will be little to no impact on residents, according to a board report.trustee deborah karton said she voted against the proposal nov. 9 because she feels "strongly that waukegan road is a commercial corridor.""i know we have residential up and down waukegan, but i really don't like the idea of taking opportunity ... that could go commercial," she said.
